Forrest Gump - 1994

Papa Bear says:

This is a must see. I dont care if your 8 years or 58 years old, if you have not already seen Forrest Gump then I suggest you make it next on your list. Tom Hanks is brilliant and the story if one of the best ever written. Forrest Gump will be talked about in 100 years like we talk about the stories of William Shakespeare. Even as a junior high school student I knew when I first seen the film it was a masterpiece.

Forrest, Forrest Gump is a simple man with a low IQ but good intentions. He is running through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends called Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, creates a famous shrimp fishing fleet, inspires people to jog, starts a ping-pong craze, create the smiley, write bumper stickers and songs, donating to people and meeting the president several times. However this is all irrelevant to Forrest who can only think of his childhood sweetheart Jenny. Who has messed up her life. Although in the end all he wants to prove is that anyone can love anyone.

Trust - 2010

Papa Bear says: I watched this movie alone at 4am. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so I enjoyed some tea and the movie on Netflix. After reading the description it was tough call, but being a parent I decided it may be in my best interest to watch the film.

This feature, titled Trust was released in 2010 and stars Clive Owen. Catherine Keener plays to role of mother to child star actress Liana Liberato. It is about a young 14 year old girl that meets a male counterpart online in some chat room. The situation gets out of hand and it drives the family a part. The FBI gets involved and you can use your imagination from there.

The film is R-rated and isn't for young children. However I think if you have a teenage daughter she should watch this one with mom and dad. Personally my daughter is only 8, so it would be a little early to let her tune in to this one.

It's a great story, great acting and overall I think this movie touches on what is really going. Everyday children and families make mistakes that that affect their lives and this is a prime example. Learn from the movie and appreciate the motive behind the film.

Naked Fear - 2007

Papa Bear says:

This movie Naked Fear nothing like the movie I intended to see. The Title and Description I read Read on Netflix didn't give a true warning of what was in this film. Luckily for me and everyone else I was watching this one at 4 o'clock in the morning while everyone while sleeping. I could go back to sleep after waking up too early but this movie turned out to be very entertaining,

A young woman travels to a new town and works as a dancer. After accepting a ride from a stranger, she awakes naked in the woods, and the hunt is on. This dude is actually capturing women and setting them free Naked in the woods, just to hunt them like live game.

The young woman has a series of difficulties which lead to her constantly having a lack of choices. She has no money, and seems to be lied to as a standard course. The dancing job lacks the class she suspected, and is really in a seedy club with seedy people where she is expected to dance at least semi naked. She wants to get away, but has no choices. She tries to find someone, anyone to send her money to get out of this town, but no possibilities there. New people in this odd town are suspicious and new friends that seem to be good or ethical are very hard to make. This all adds to her being quite alone and having no one to turn to. All of that also makes her very vulnerable to a killer looking for vulnerable women.

This is a good film considering Netflix tends to run out of great options. But overall I agree with most of the critics an I give this film a 5 out of 10 rating. Check it out and let me know what you think. Movie suggestions are always welcome too.
